Faith Action Network (FAN) is a statewide, multifaith nonprofit coalition in Washington State that mobilizes people of diverse religious traditions for public advocacy and community organizing. Formed in 2011 from the merger of the Washington Association of Churches and the Lutheran Public Policy Office, FAN works with hundreds of congregations and individual faith leaders to advance policies grounded in dignity, justice, belonging, and care for the earth.
FAN typically pursues legislative policies on economic justice and progressive revenue, affordable housing and homelessness prevention, immigrant and refugee rights, healthcare and mental health access, criminal justice reform, environmental and climate justice, protection and expansion of the social safety net, and civic engagement/voting rights.
Primarily funded by member congregations and individual donors, foundation and grant support, program and event revenue, and workplace giving platforms (e.g., Benevity) and charitable contributions.
A network of over 170 member faith communities and interfaith leaders across Washington State, and frequent coalition partners and collaborators include organizations such as Earth Ministry/Washington Interfaith Power & Light, NAMI Washington, The Fig Tree, and statewide faith and social-justice coalitions.
