Family Research Council (FRC) is a Washington, D.C.–based evangelical nonprofit research and educational organization founded in 1983. It seeks to advance what it describes as a family-centered philosophy of public life by promoting faith, family, and freedom in public policy from a biblical worldview, and provides policy analysis and advocacy to federal lawmakers, the media, and the public.
FRC advocates for socially conservative policies including opposition to abortion and embryonic stem-cell research, support for traditional marriage and restrictions on same-sex marriage and LGBT rights, protection of religious liberty and conscience rights, parental rights in education, and policies limiting access to pornography.
Primarily supported by voluntary individual donations and grants; does not receive federal or state government funding.
