Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is a U.S. nonprofit organization founded in 1979 that conducts research, public education, and advocacy aimed at reducing immigration levels and strengthening immigration enforcement.
Advocates for lower levels of legal immigration, stronger border and interior enforcement, employer sanctions and mandatory work-authorization checks, limits on family-based immigration and refugee admissions, and opposition to broad legalization/amnesty programs.
Primarily funded by individual donations, membership fees, and grants from private foundations and supporters.
Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) — FAIR's legal affiliate; founder John Tanton (deceased) and longtime FAIR president Dan Stein; ideologically aligned organizations include the Center for Immigration Studies and NumbersUSA.
