The Florida Phosphate Council is the trade association representing Florida's phosphate mining and fertilizer manufacturing industry. It promotes the economic importance of phosphate production, advocates for responsible mining and reclamation practices, advances initiatives for beneficial use of byproducts, and provides public education about the sector's role in agriculture and the state economy.
Typically pursues state and federal policies that support phosphate mining and fertilizer production, regulatory and permitting frameworks (including water and environmental permitting), land reclamation standards, beneficial reuse of phosphogypsum, infrastructure and port access, workforce and economic development, and regulatory certainty to maintain industry competitiveness.
Primarily funded by membership dues and contributions from phosphate producers, fertilizer manufacturers, and associated contractors and service companies.
