The Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ & Owners’ Association (FTBOA) is a membership organization that represents and promotes the interests of Thoroughbred breeders, owners and related businesses in Florida. Its mission centers on supporting Florida-bred breeding and racing programs, providing education and marketing for members, administering breeder/owner incentive programs, and advocating for public policy that sustains the state’s Thoroughbred industry.
Advocacy for state-level racing and pari‑mutuel policies favorable to breeders and owners, support for Florida‑bred incentive and purse enhancement programs, promotion of agricultural and land‑use policies that benefit horse farms, engagement on animal health and welfare regulations affecting equine operations, and positions on economic development or tax measures that impact the horseracing and breeding sector.
Primarily funded by member dues and fees, revenues from events and sponsorships, and income tied to administration of breeder/owner incentive programs and related services.
Works closely with Florida racetracks and industry organizations (including major Florida tracks and sales organizations), local breeding farms and trainers, and national horseracing industry groups and stakeholders.
Non-profit trade association
