About the Organization

FMI – The Food Industry Association is a U.S. trade association that represents food retailers, wholesalers and supplier partners; its stated mission is to advance a safer, healthier and more efficient consumer food supply chain and to champion efforts that help feed families and enrich lives through industry research, education, operating guidance and public policy advocacy.

Policy Goals

Food safety and recalls, supply chain and transportation policy, food labeling and nutrition policy, nutrition assistance programs (e.g., SNAP), workforce and labor issues affecting retail, state and federal regulatory and tax matters, sustainability and food waste reduction, consumer health and product standards

Funding

Primarily funded by member dues and fees from retail, wholesale and supplier members, plus revenue from events, sponsorships, programs and related services

Affiliates

FMI Foundation (501(c)(3)), Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI), FoodPAC (political action committee), major member companies and retailers including Kroger, Walmart, Ahold Delhaize, H-E-B, Wakefern and Wegmans, and President & CEO Leslie G. Sarasin
