The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) is a national, nonpartisan Quaker advocacy organization founded in 1943 that lobbies Congress and the administration on issues consistent with Quaker values, including peace, justice, and environmental stewardship. It works to advance public policies rooted in social justice, equality, and nonviolence.
FCNL advocates for federal policies related to peacebuilding and conflict prevention, nuclear disarmament, immigration reform, criminal justice reform, environmental protection and climate action, Native American rights, economic justice, and the protection of civil liberties.
Primarily funded through individual donations, foundation grants, and contributions from Quaker meetings and supporters.
Affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and works closely with Quaker meetings nationwide as well as allied peace and justice advocacy organizations.
