About the Organization

Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) is Hawaii’s largest and most established health plan, serving members, employers, and health care providers across the state. It describes its purpose as improving the lives of its members and the health of Hawaii through affordable health plans, wellness support, and access to care.

Policy Goals

Health insurance regulation, health care access and affordability, Medicaid and public health program policy, provider reimbursement, preventive care, wellness, and broader health system policy affecting coverage and care delivery in Hawaii.

Funding

Primarily funded through health plan premiums and related insurance revenues from members, employers, and public programs it administers or serves.
