Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA)

About the Organization

The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) is a national trade association that represents and advocates for community banks. Its stated mission is to create and promote an environment where community banks flourish by providing federal advocacy, industry education, professional services, and member programs from its Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Policy Goals

Pursues federal and state policies affecting community banks, including regulatory relief and tailored banking regulation, deposit insurance and safety-and-soundness issues, tax and capital policy, small-business and agricultural lending support, housing finance reform, payments and interchange rules, fintech and data-security/cybersecurity issues, and community development initiatives.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues from community banks, revenue from conferences and educational programs, sponsorships and vendor partnerships, and income generated by affiliated service subsidiaries and member services.

Affiliates

Affiliated state and regional community banking associations and ICBA-owned or endorsed subsidiaries and service lines (examples include ICBA Securities and ICBA Payments/ICBA Bancard), as well as the organization’s affiliated political action committee (ICBA PAC).
