About the Organization

Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) is a U.S. nonprofit advocacy network of current and former collegiate and professional female athletes, parents, coaches and supporters that promotes sex‑based protections and “fairness” in women’s sports. ICONS organizes conferences and educational efforts, publishes policy positions, and provides financial support for litigation and legal advocacy to defend access, privacy and competitive opportunities for female athletes.

Policy Goals

Advocacy for sex‑based protections in athletics and Title IX interpretation, opposition to policies allowing transgender women to compete in female sports categories, funding and support for litigation, regulatory and institutional policy campaigns, public education and convenings on women’s sports policy

Funding

Primarily funded by individual donations, charitable foundations and donor‑advised funds (including contributions routed through charitable giving platforms), plus event and program contributions

Affiliates

Co‑founders Marshi Smith and Kim Jones; athlete advocates such as Riley Gaines; allied organizations and networks including the International Consortium on Female Sports (ICFS), USA Powerlifting (partnered events), and other women’s sports advocacy groups
