About the Organization

JustLeadershipUSA (JLUSA) is a national nonprofit led by people directly impacted by the criminal legal system. The organization trains, elevates, and funds formerly incarcerated and system-impacted leaders to drive decarceration and policy reforms intended to cut the U.S. correctional population and reinvest in communities.

Policy Goals

Criminal justice reform and decarceration: pretrial and bail reform, sentencing reform, jail and prison closure campaigns, reentry and employment access, removal of collateral consequences, community reinvestment, and racial justice/anti‑racism policy work.

Funding

Primarily philanthropic support, including foundation grants and individual donations (major grants and charitable contributions).

Affiliates

Founder Glenn E. Martin; President & CEO DeAnna Hoskins; the JustUS Coordinating Council; partnerships with organizations such as the Vera Institute of Justice, Hip Hop Caucus, and Americans for Financial Reform.
