About the Organization

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is a U.S.-based environmental advocacy organization that seeks to make environmental protection and climate action central to federal and state public policy. LCV works to elect and hold accountable pro-environment elected officials, mobilize voters, produce legislative scorecards, and campaign for laws and regulations that advance clean energy, conservation, clean air and water, and environmental justice.

Policy Goals

Advocacy for climate change mitigation and clean energy, protection of public lands and biodiversity, clean air and water rules, toxics reduction, environmental justice and equitable community protections, and pro-environment electoral and legislative accountability measures.

Funding

Primarily individual donations, grants from foundations, and contributions through affiliated political committees and fundraising efforts.

Affiliates

League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (educational 501(c)(3)), LCV Action Fund (political arm/PAC), and a network of state and local 'Conservation Voters' affiliates such as California League of Conservation Voters.

Legal Structure

Non-profit organization (national advocacy 501(c)(4) with affiliated 501(c)(3) education arm and political action entities)
