About the Organization

Lee Health is a community-focused private nonprofit health system serving Southwest Florida since 1916. It operates multiple acute-care and specialty hospitals, ambulatory and outpatient centers, and an integrated physician group, with a stated mission to be a trusted partner empowering healthier lives through care and compassion.

Policy Goals

Typically pursues health-care related policy positions including access to care and safety-net preservation, Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement and payment policy, state funding and capital support for hospitals, charity care and community health programs, workforce and clinician licensure/credentialing, telehealth and rural access expansion, behavioral health and substance-use services, emergency preparedness and public health initiatives, and issues affecting hospital operations and patient safety.

Funding

Primarily funded by patient service revenue and insurance reimbursements (including Medicare and Medicaid), supplemented by philanthropic support through the Lee Health Foundation, grants, and occasional state or federal program funding.
