The Maine Bankers Association is the statewide trade association representing Maine’s banks and bankers since 1893. Its mission is to provide advocacy, education, and resources to safeguard and advance the interests of member banks, including legislative and regulatory representation, training and certification, compliance assistance, and community engagement.
Advocacy on state and federal banking and financial services regulation, community and commercial lending policy, consumer finance and compliance issues, payments and fintech policy, taxation and economic development matters affecting banks, workforce development and bank education initiatives, and public-private community investment programs.
Primarily funded by membership dues from Maine banks, event and program fees, sponsorships, and revenue from education and affinity services provided to members.
Works closely with national trade groups such as the American Bankers Association and the Independent Community Bankers of America and with its member banks, including prominent Maine institutions such as Bangor Savings Bank and Camden National Bank.
