MassEquality is a Massachusetts-based nonprofit advocacy organization that advances civil rights and full equality for LGBTQ+ people through state-level policy advocacy, public education, community organizing, and electoral engagement.
State-level LGBTQ+ civil-rights policies including anti-discrimination protections, transgender health and identity recognition, marriage and family law equality, youth and school protections and anti-bullying, HIV/AIDS-related policy and access to health care, plus related criminal-justice, housing, and electoral advocacy.
Primarily individual donations and grassroots fundraising, supplemented by philanthropic grants and institutional support; coordinates with affiliated political action committees for electoral spending when applicable.
Works closely with national and state civil-rights and LGBTQ organizations (for example GLAD, Equality Federation, ACLU of Massachusetts, Human Rights Campaign), regional health and advocacy groups such as Fenway Health/AIDS Action Committee, allied progressive elected officials, and local grassroots organizations.
