About the Organization

The Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) is a nonprofit organization that represents and supports Michigan’s 75 local conservation districts. Its mission is to strengthen conservation districts through leadership, information, and representation at the state level, advancing science-based stewardship of Michigan’s natural resources in partnership with landowners, farmers, and local communities.

Policy Goals

MACD advocates for state and federal funding for local conservation districts, supports implementation of Farm Bill conservation programs, and promotes policies related to soil health, water quality, land stewardship, invasive species management, and sustainable agriculture. The organization engages in legislative advocacy to secure operational funding and improve conservation program delivery across Michigan.
