About the Organization

The Michigan Association of County Drain Commissioners (MACDC) is a voluntary membership organization that represents Michigan’s county drain commissioners and their offices. MACDC provides technical support, training, model policies and best practices for operation and maintenance of county drains and drainage systems, and acts as a policy voice for local drainage and watershed management issues affecting Michigan counties.

Policy Goals

Advocates on state and local policies affecting drainage infrastructure, stormwater and watershed management, flood mitigation, drain maintenance and repair funding, local permitting and regulatory authority, intergovernmental coordination on water resources, and professional standards and training for drain offices.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues and fees for conferences, training and technical services; may also receive revenue from sponsorships, program fees and occasional grants.

Affiliates

County drain commissioners and county governments across Michigan; cooperative relationships with state natural resource and environmental agencies, county-level public works and road organizations, and local conservation districts.
