The Michigan League for Public Policy is a nonpartisan, statewide research and advocacy organization founded in 1912 and based in Lansing, Michigan. The League uses data-driven research, education and advocacy to advance economic opportunity, racial equity, and well-being for Michigan residents, with a focus on low- and moderate-income communities. It analyzes state and federal budgets and policies through a racial equity lens and works to promote policy solutions that address poverty and systemic inequities.
State and federal budget and tax policy, poverty reduction, racial equity, health care access, workforce development, child well-being, education funding, public benefits programs, and economic security policies affecting low- and moderate-income residents.
Primarily supported by charitable contributions and foundation grants, including support from national and regional philanthropic foundations, as well as individual donations and program revenue.
Serves as the Michigan affiliate for the national KIDS COUNT project and has received grant support from foundations such as the Ford Foundation; former leadership has included Gilda Jacobs, a former Michigan State Senator.
