About the Organization

The Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) is a statewide professional association representing licensed surveyors and surveying professionals in Michigan. MSPS advances the surveying profession through leadership, education, advocacy, standards development, member services, public outreach, and by providing continuing education, networking and a statewide directory of licensed surveyors.

Policy Goals

Typically advocates on matters affecting professional surveying and mapping such as licensing and regulatory standards for surveyors, professional ethics and practice standards, land boundary and property-rights issues, geospatial data and mapping standards, public land records and platting, education and continuing professional development requirements, and state policies that affect land development and infrastructure where surveying services are required.

Primarily funded by member dues, conference and continuing-education registration fees, event sponsorships and exhibitor revenue, and occasional grants or donations.

Affiliated with national and regional surveying organizations such as the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and interacts with bodies like the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES); operates through regional MSPS chapters across Michigan and partners with engineering and land-use organizations and industry vendors.
