About the Organization

The Minnesota Bankers Association (MBA) is a state trade association that represents commercial, community and savings banks operating in Minnesota. The MBA provides public policy advocacy, legal and compliance support, education and training, industry research, and member services intended to promote a safe, sound and competitive banking sector and to advance the interests of Minnesota banks and their customers.

Policy Goals

State and federal banking regulation and supervision, consumer finance and mortgage policy, payments and fintech policy, cybersecurity and data privacy, community development and small business lending, tax and economic policy affecting banks, regulatory compliance and legal guidance, workforce and benefits issues affecting financial institutions (e.g., PFML/private plan options).

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues from banks and financial institutions, program and event fees (education, conferences), sponsorships, and modest non‑operating income such as rental or investment income.

Affiliates

Works closely with national and regional banking organizations such as the American Bankers Association, state community banking groups (e.g., BankIn Minnesota), Minnesota chartered member banks including large national, regional and community banks, state financial regulators, and business groups; current senior staff leadership includes the MBA CEO/President.
