About the Organization

The Movement Advancement Project (MAP) is an independent, nonpartisan research and policy organization that provides data, analysis, and strategic tools to advance LGBTQ equality. MAP produces state and federal policy research, interactive maps, issue briefings, and reports intended to inform advocates, lawmakers, and the public.

Policy Goals

Research and advocacy support on LGBTQ equality and civil rights issues, including nondiscrimination laws, transgender rights, family and parental recognition, HIV-related policy, youth protections, and state-level policy tracking and analysis to inform legislative strategy.

Funding

Primarily funded by philanthropic foundation grants and contributions from individual donors, with occasional project-specific grants and partnerships.

Affiliates

Frequently partners and collaborates with national and state LGBTQ advocacy and legal organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, Lambda Legal, ACLU, National Center for Transgender Equality, and state-based equality organizations.
