The Multicultural Alliance for a Safe Environment (MASE) is a coalition of community-based groups in the Southwestern United States that organizes uranium-impacted and Indigenous communities to protect public health, land, water, and cultural resources. MASE works on community education, advocacy, and coalition-building to secure cleanups, prevent new uranium development, and advance environmental justice for current and future generations.
Advocacy for abandoned mine cleanup and remediation, restrictions or moratoria on new uranium mining, enforcement of EPA and state cleanup standards, expansion of compensation and health programs for radiation-exposed communities, tribal sovereignty and consultation in permitting, community-led environmental monitoring and public health protections, and funding for remediation and affected community services.
