About the Organization

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is a nonpartisan membership organization that represents state departments of agriculture, agriculture commissioners and directors across the United States. NASDA’s mission is to advance effective state agricultural policy, strengthen state agriculture agencies, promote economic opportunity for farmers and ranchers, and protect public and environmental health through leadership, advocacy, and education.

Policy Goals

State and federal agricultural policy and regulatory coordination, food safety and inspection, animal and plant health and biosecurity, conservation and natural resource management, rural development and agricultural economic development, pesticide and fertilizer regulation, agricultural trade and market access, emergency response and disaster recovery for agriculture

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues from state departments of agriculture, income from conferences and events, corporate sponsorships and fees for services, and grants or cooperative agreements

Affiliates

State departments of agriculture and agriculture commissioners (all 50 states and U.S. territories), U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Governors Association, major commodity organizations and farm groups, regional conservation and public health partners
