The National Bankers Association (NBA) is a Washington, D.C.–based trade association founded in 1927 that champions Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs) — minority- and women-owned mission-driven banks — and the underserved communities they serve. NBA provides policy advocacy, research, capacity-building programs, conferences and partnership opportunities to strengthen MDIs’ access to capital, technology and markets and to advance financial inclusion and racial wealth‑building.
Advocacy for MDIs on banking regulation and supervisory policy, Community Reinvestment Act and fair‑lending enforcement, access to low‑cost capital and deposits, tax and incentive policies that support community development (e.g., NMTCs and tax credits), fintech modernization and digital access, programs to support small business lending, and broader financial‑inclusion and racial‑wealth‑gap reduction initiatives.
Primarily funded by member dues from MDIs, conference and event fees and sponsorships, program revenue and corporate/strategic partner support; the NBA Foundation also raises philanthropic grants and donations to fund research and community programs.
