The National Coalition Against Cryptomining is a grassroots advocacy coalition of community groups and activists from more than twenty states working to protect local communities from the environmental, public health, and economic impacts of proof-of-work cryptocurrency mining. The organization educates policymakers and the public, supports local chapters, and promotes regulatory oversight of large-scale cryptomining operations.
Supports federal and state legislation to regulate or limit proof-of-work cryptomining, including moratoria and stricter permitting requirements; advocates for environmental protections, energy grid reliability standards, water use restrictions, zoning controls, and transparency in tax incentives and subsidies for mining operations.
Primarily funded through individual donations and grassroots fundraising, with contributions processed through its fiscal sponsor, Seneca Lake Guardian, and support from allied environmental organizations.
