About the Organization

The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) is a Washington, D.C.-based coalition of national Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) organizations founded in 1996 that provides a unified national voice to advance civil rights, policy equity, civic engagement, and public awareness of AANHPI issues.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on civil rights and anti-discrimination, immigration reform and family reunification, voting rights and civic participation, health equity and language access, education equity and data disaggregation for AANHPI communities, federal workforce diversity and appointments, hate-crimes prevention and community safety, and economic opportunity policies affecting AANHPI populations.

Funding

Primarily supported by foundation and philanthropic grants, membership dues from constituent organizations, and individual donations.

Affiliates

Coalition members include prominent national AANHPI organizations such as Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF), Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), Asian American Justice Center (AAJC), OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF), Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), and South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT).
