About the Organization

The National Grocers Association (NGA) is a U.S. trade association that represents independent supermarket operators, regional chains, and wholesale grocers. It provides federal and state advocacy, industry education, research, and business services intended to protect and promote the interests of independent food retailers and distributors.

Policy Goals

Federal and state advocacy on issues affecting grocery retailers and wholesalers, including food safety and labeling, nutrition assistance programs (e.g., SNAP), supply‑chain and transportation policy, tax and regulatory relief for small and regional grocers, labor and workforce policy, payment processing and merchant fees, and competition/antitrust matters affecting independent retailers.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues from independent retailers, regional chains and wholesale distributors, plus event and conference fees, sponsorships, and industry partner programs.

Affiliates

State and regional grocers associations, independent supermarket chains and regional wholesale distributors, and industry suppliers and corporate partners that participate in NGA programs and events.
