About the Organization

A national nonprofit coalition that advocates for grandparents, other relatives, and non‑parent caregivers who raise children (kinship caregivers). The organization works to advance policies, public awareness, and best practices that promote stability, permanency, and the health and economic well‑being of children and families living in kinship care.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on child welfare and family policy affecting kinship care: caregiver supports and services, access to public benefits, legal permanency (guardianship and adoption), foster care policy as it relates to relatives, cross‑system coordination with health, education and aging services, and programs to reduce family separation and support economic stability for caregiver households.

Funding

Primarily funded by philanthropic foundations and charitable grants, supplemented by government grants/contracts, membership or partner contributions, and individual donations.

Affiliates

State and local kinship coalitions, national child welfare and family‑support organizations, legal aid and aging services partners, and philanthropic supporters working on foster care and kinship issues.
