The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is the U.S. trade association for the recreational marine industry, representing boat, engine and marine accessory manufacturers, dealers, and related businesses. NMMA promotes boating participation and industry growth through public policy advocacy, safety and technical standards, market research, certification programs, consumer outreach, and major industry events including national and regional boat shows.
Typically pursues legislative and regulatory policies that expand recreational boating access and infrastructure funding, shape environmental and engine-emissions regulations affecting marine engines, influence trade and tariff rules, support tax incentives and financing for the marine sector, advance boating safety and education, and protect industry product standards and liability frameworks.
Primarily funded by membership dues from manufacturers, dealers and suppliers, event and boat show revenue, corporate sponsorships, and fees for industry services and certification programs.
Major member companies and industry partners such as Brunswick Corporation (including Sea Ray and Mercury Marine), Yamaha Marine, Honda Marine, Volvo Penta, BRP and Suzuki Marine; partner trade groups including the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas (MRAA) and the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA).
