The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) is a U.S.-based trade federation that represents dairy cooperatives and the farmers they own. NMPF’s mission is to advance public policy and market outcomes that support a competitive, financially viable, and sustainable U.S. dairy sector, including work on farm income supports, market regulation, food safety, nutrition policy, and dairy product standards.
Federal farm policy and dairy safety nets (e.g., milk income support programs and margin protections), federal milk marketing orders and pricing, international trade and export promotion, nutrition programs (SNAP/WIC/Dietary Guidelines) and school feeding, dairy product labeling and standards of identity, animal health and food safety, environmental and climate-related policy affecting dairy operations, research and innovation funding for dairy supply chain
Primarily membership dues and service fees from affiliated dairy cooperatives, plus revenue from events, publications, sponsorships and other non-profit activities
Major U.S. dairy cooperatives and state milk producer associations (for example large regional cooperatives), and policy partners in the dairy sector such as the U.S. Dairy Export Council, state dairy organizations, and other industry trade groups
