National Nurses United (NNU) is the largest U.S. union and professional organization of registered nurses, organized to advance nurses' workplace rights, patient safety, and progressive health-care reform while providing collective bargaining and member advocacy.
Advocates for safe nurse-to-patient staffing ratios, workplace safety and PPE, collective bargaining and labor rights, expanded public health access including single-payer/Medicare for All policies, paid sick leave and family leave, reproductive and racial justice in health care, and opposition to privatization of public services.
Primarily funded by member dues and voluntary member contributions, supplemented by donations and political action committee contributions.
Organizational affiliates include constituent state nurses associations such as the California Nurses Association and Massachusetts Nurses Association; prominent leaders have included Executive Director Bonnie Castillo and former national leader RoseAnn DeMoro.
