About the Organization

The National Parents Union (NPU) is a parent-led national nonprofit that organizes and amplifies the voices of families to influence education and family policy. NPU says its mission is to empower parents and kinship caregivers, build coalitions across communities, conduct research and communications, and advocate for policies that advance educational equity, family economic supports, child well‑being and school safety.

Policy Goals

K–12 education policy and school accountability, educational choice and innovation, reopening and recovery funding for schools, child and family economic supports (including child tax credit expansion), child mental health and school safety, digital/AI literacy and policy for children, and policies addressing equity and access for low‑income and historically marginalized students

Funding

Primarily philanthropic contributions and individual donations (grants and contributions from foundations and supporters make up the bulk of revenue), supplemented by program service revenue

Affiliates

President Keri Rodrigues and a national network of affiliated parent organizations (the group reports 1,800+ local affiliates and over a million members), partnerships with community and civil‑rights organizations, and connections to education advocacy networks and leaders involved in school reform
