National PTA is a U.S. nonprofit membership association that represents parents, families, teachers and school staff. Its mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for children’s education, health, safety and well-being.
Typically advocates for public education funding and equity, early childhood education, school safety and mental health services, child nutrition and health, special education and inclusive practices, family engagement in schools, and policies that support children’s rights and well‑being.
Primarily funded by membership dues from state and local PTAs, individual donations, grants, fundraising activities and corporate sponsorships/partnerships.
State PTAs and thousands of local PTA/PTSA units across the United States; works in partnership with other education and child advocacy organizations and community stakeholders.
