The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization and trade association for more than 900 consumer-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperatives in the United States. Its mission is to promote, support and protect the community and business interests of electric cooperatives — helping ensure safe, reliable and affordable electric service and advocating for rural communities and co-op members.
Federal energy and utility policy, rural electrification and grid reliability, resilience and modernization, electric sector regulation and tax policy, broadband deployment in rural areas, workforce development and safety, cooperative governance and consumer-membership protections, cybersecurity and emergency preparedness, and environmental policy that balances reliability and affordability
Primarily funded by membership dues and service fees from electric cooperatives; supplemented by conference and training revenue, publications and program fees, contract and grant income (including international program contracts), and revenue from affiliated service entities
