New Yorkers for Responsible Lending (NYRL) is a statewide coalition of more than 160 nonprofit organizations dedicated to promoting economic justice and racial equity by expanding access to fair and affordable financial services. Founded in 1999–2000, NYRL advocates against predatory lending and discriminatory financial practices through legislative advocacy, research, public education, media outreach, and organizing campaigns.
Consumer protection and fair lending laws; anti-predatory lending reforms; small business and mortgage lending protections; auto insurance pricing reform; foreclosure prevention; banking and credit access; and broader economic and racial equity policies affecting financial services.
Supported primarily by member nonprofit organizations and philanthropic foundation grants.
