Description: New Yorkers for Responsible Lending (NYRL) is a statewide coalition of more than 160 non-profit organizations that advocates for economic justice and racial equity by promoting fair and affordable financial services, combating predatory lending and abusive debt-collection practices, strengthening consumer protections, and defending homeownership and student-borrower rights across New York State. Type: Statewide coalition of non-profit organizations Policies: Consumer protection and enforcement, anti-predatory lending (payday, high-cost credit, subprime auto, buy-now-pay-later oversight), fair lending and bank accountability, mortgage and foreclosure protections, debt collection reform, student loan borrower protections and registries, insurance underwriting and telematics regulation, promoting low-cost banking and financial inclusion. Funding: Primarily funded through foundation grants, philanthropic donations, and support from member organizations and partner nonprofits, supplemented by project-specific grants and in-kind contributions. Affiliates: New Economy Project, Empire Justice Center, Legal Services NYC, AARP New York, NYPIRG, Student Borrower Protection Center, VOCAL-NY, community development financial institutions and local legal services and community-based organizations
