About the Organization

Northern Water, formally known as the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District, is a public water conservancy district that manages and delivers water supplies for agricultural, municipal, industrial, and environmental uses in northeastern Colorado. Established in 1937, it operates and maintains the Colorado-Big Thompson Project and works to ensure reliable water resources for growing communities and farms.

Policy Goals

Water storage and delivery infrastructure, water rights administration, drought planning, watershed management, agricultural water supply, municipal water reliability, and state and federal water project funding

Funding

Water delivery contracts and assessments on water users within the district, along with revenue from water sales and project-related fees
