The Northwest & Intermountain Power Producers Coalition (NIPPC) is a regional membership advocacy organization that represents independent power producers, developers, power marketers, storage providers and related competitive-generation interests in the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West. NIPPC advocates for competitive electric markets, fair transmission access and transparent pricing, resource adequacy and policies that support reliable, cost‑effective power supplies for the region.
Market design and competitive wholesale and retail market rules; transmission access and open‑access pricing; PURPA and avoided‑cost implementation; resource adequacy and reliability standards; utility procurement and integrated resource planning; Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state utility commission proceedings that affect independent power producers and market competition.
Primarily funded by membership dues, sponsorships and fees from independent power producers, developers, generators, power marketers, storage providers and other industry participants.
Membership and partner makeup includes independent power producers, generation developers, power marketers and storage companies; senior staff and spokespeople such as Executive Director Spencer Gray are publicly associated with the coalition.
