About the Organization

The Northwest Community Bail Fund (NCBF) is a Seattle-based nonprofit that posts cash bail at no cost for people who cannot afford it in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. It provides revolving bail assistance, short-term support for people awaiting trial, and organizes community education and advocacy aimed at abolishing cash bail and pretrial detention while centering the needs of Black, Indigenous, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ community members.

Policy Goals

Bail reform and abolition of cash bail and pretrial detention; decarceration and reduction of pretrial incarceration; anti-racist criminal legal reform; community-led accountability, restorative and transformative justice; mutual aid and support for people impacted by the carceral system.

Funding

Primarily individual donations and philanthropic grants; funds raised are used to post bail and to support organizing, with returned bail repeatedly reused as a revolving fund.

Affiliates

Member of the National Bail Fund Network hosted by Community Justice Exchange and partner to local community organizations, volunteer networks, and regional mutual aid groups in the Pacific Northwest.
