About the Organization

The Office of the Governor of Massachusetts (under Gov. Charlie Baker, 2021) is the chief executive office of the Commonwealth charged with implementing state law, proposing the state budget, issuing executive orders, setting administration policy priorities, coordinating state agencies, and leading statewide initiatives on matters including public health, economic development, infrastructure, education and emergency response.

Policy Goals

Pursues policies on the state budget and fiscal management; public health and emergency response (including COVID-19 response in 2020–21); economic development and job growth; K-12 and higher education funding; transportation and infrastructure investment; climate change, clean energy and environmental policy; healthcare access; housing and homelessness; and public safety and criminal justice reform.

Funding

Operates using appropriations from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts budget, funded primarily by state tax revenues and fees appropriated by the Massachusetts Legislature.
