About the Organization

The Oregon Consumer League is an Oregon-based nonprofit consumer advocacy organization (founded in 1966) that works to protect and inform consumers through education, policy development, advocacy, consumer complaint assistance, and representation before state regulators and the legislature.

Policy Goals

Consumer protection and rights, financial services and debt relief, privacy and data-broker regulation, marketplace transparency and online marketplace seller disclosure, insurance and utility consumer protections, protections for older adults and vulnerable populations, enforcement and corporate accountability

Funding

Primarily funded by individual donations, small grants and private philanthropic support, fundraising and board contributions; operates an affiliated political action fund for electoral and lobbying activity

Oregon Consumer League Action Fund (political arm); Executive Director Michelle Druce; Board President Joel Shapiro; longtime board member James Davis; collaborates with state consumer agencies, legal-aid and other consumer advocacy organizations
