Description: The Partnership for America’s Health Care Future (PAHCF) is a Washington, D.C.-based coalition of health industry trade groups and corporate members formed in 2018. It describes its mission as building on and improving the current U.S. health care system — preserving employer-sponsored coverage, Medicare and Medicaid — while pursuing policies it says will lower costs, protect patient choice, expand access, and foster innovation. PAHCF is best known for organizing coordinated public affairs and lobbying campaigns opposing single‑payer proposals and other major expansions of government-run coverage. Type: 501(c)(4) social welfare organization and affiliated advocacy/action entities (industry coalition with a separate action/lobbying arm) Policies: Typically advocates against single‑payer and broad Medicare expansion proposals (including 'Medicare for All' and some public‑option buy‑in plans), supports strengthening and preserving employer‑sponsored coverage, protecting Medicare and Medicaid programs as currently structured, promoting market‑oriented cost‑reduction measures, and opposing policies the coalition views as disruptive to private insurance and provider reimbursement models. Funding: Primarily funded by member trade associations, national health insurers, hospital systems, and pharmaceutical/biotech companies through member dues and corporate contributions to the coalition and its affiliated 501(c)(4)/action entities. Affiliates: Founding and prominent members include America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the Federation of American Hospitals (FAH), Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), the American Hospital Association (AHA), the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA); senior staff have included executive director Lauren Crawford Shaver.
