Parents Against Vaping e-cigarettes (PAVe) is a national grassroots nonprofit founded in 2018 by parents to educate communities and advocate against youth vaping. PAVe mobilizes parent volunteers, provides training and materials (through its educational arm PAVe Educates), and pushes for local, state, and federal actions to reduce youth access to and exposure to flavored e-cigarettes and other tobacco products.
Typically pursues policies to ban or restrict flavored e-cigarettes and menthol products, strengthen age and point-of-sale regulations, limit youth-directed marketing by tobacco and vaping companies, support school- and community-based prevention programs, and advance state and local ordinances to reduce youth access to vaping products.
Primarily funded by individual donations and grassroots contributions, fee-based training/events through PAVe Educates, and grants or philanthropic support.
Co-founders Meredith Berkman, Dorian Fuhrman, and Dina Alessi; PAVe Educates (501(c)(3)); collaborations with state tobacco control programs, school districts, PTAs and other public health advocacy organizations; engagement with federal and state lawmakers and public health officials.
