Pet Advocacy Network is a nonprofit trade association founded in 1971 that serves as the policy voice of the responsible pet care community. Formerly known as the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC), the organization advocates for pet choice, responsible pet professionals, and science-based policies that support animal welfare, consumer protections, and the human-animal bond at the local, state, federal, and international levels.
Animal welfare and pet industry regulation; opposition to retail pet sale bans; consumer protection laws related to pet ownership; invasive species and importation rules; zoonotic disease policy; environmental stewardship; breeder and pet store regulation; and legislation affecting pet ownership rights and pet businesses.
