The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) is a U.S. trade association that represents pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and advocates for policies to improve prescription drug access, affordability, and clinical management through PBM services and benefit design.
Advocacy on prescription drug pricing and reimbursement, PBM regulation and oversight, Medicare Part D and Medicaid pharmacy policy, commercial prescription benefit design, rebate and transparency rules, value-based contracting, and measures intended to promote patient access and cost-effective medication use.
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from PBMs, health plans, and related industry partners, plus revenue from events and sponsorships.
Prominent member and industry companies commonly associated with PCMA activities include large PBMs and health care companies such as CVS Caremark (CVS Health), Express Scripts (Cigna), OptumRx (UnitedHealth Group), Humana Pharmacy Solutions, and allied employer and health plan organizations.
