The Portsmouth Federal Employees Metal Trades Council is a labor council that represents skilled trades and civilian shipyard employees at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire. The council coordinates collective bargaining, grievance work, safety and training programs for electricians, pipefitters, machinists, ironworkers, insulators, welders and other craft workers and advocates for job security, fair wages, benefits and shipyard readiness.
Collective bargaining and contract enforcement for federal shipyard trades, workplace health and safety, apprenticeship and training programs, protecting federal civilian workforce jobs and pensions, opposing layoffs and adverse personnel policies, advocacy for shipyard funding and operational readiness, labor-management relations and local labor policy.
Primarily funded by member dues and assessments collected through affiliated local unions, with occasional support and coordination from the Metal Trades Department and affiliated national unions.
