About the Organization

Positive Women’s Network–USA (PWN–USA) is a national membership organization led by and for cis and trans women, transgender and gender diverse people living with HIV. Founded in 2008, PWN–USA builds leadership, provides peer-led support and training, and conducts federal and state advocacy to reduce HIV-related stigma, protect health and reproductive rights, and advance gender and racial justice for people living with HIV.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on HIV care and prevention access, retention in care, and treatment; protections against HIV-related stigma and discrimination; reform or repeal of punitive HIV criminalization laws; sexual and reproductive health and rights for people living with HIV; funding for federal and state HIV programs and community services; gender- and race-conscious policies addressing violence, housing, and social determinants of health for women and gender-diverse people living with HIV.

Funding

Primarily supported by philanthropic foundation grants, government grants and contracts, individual donations and membership contributions, with occasional project-specific corporate or pharmaceutical program support.

Affiliates

Operates regional PWN chapters and partnerships with national and local HIV advocacy, reproductive justice, and community-based service organizations; leadership and spokespeople are women and gender-diverse people living with HIV who serve on PWN boards, staff, and working groups.
