The Power & Communication Contractors Association (PCCA) is a U.S.-based non-profit trade association, founded in 1945, that represents companies that construct electric power infrastructure (transmission, distribution and substations) and communications systems (fiber, broadband, cable and related directional drilling and premise wiring). PCCA provides industry advocacy, education, safety guidance, networking, workforce development, and member services for contractors and suppliers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Advocacy on federal and state infrastructure funding and procurement for electric and broadband construction; permitting, right-of-way and siting rules; underground damage prevention and utility safety; workforce development, training and apprenticeship policy; regulatory engagement with agencies (e.g., USDA Rural Development, NTIA, DOT, OSHA) and environmental/NEPA implementation; standards and contracting rules affecting contractors and suppliers.
Primarily funded by membership dues from contractor and associate members, plus event and convention fees, sponsorships, advertising and publication revenue.
Prominent member companies and suppliers active in PCCA include MP Nexlevel, MYR Group, Quanta Services, Michels Corporation, Vermeer and American Polywater; PCCA routinely engages with federal agencies such as the NTIA and USDA Rural Development and with industry partners on joint policy and safety initiatives.
