Pride At Work is the AFL-CIO constituency group that organizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied union members and activists. The organization’s mission is to advance workplace equality, strengthen LGBTQIA+ inclusion in unions and labor contracts, and build solidarity between the labor movement and LGBTQIA+ communities through education, organizing and policy advocacy.
Workplace nondiscrimination and civil-rights protections for LGBTQIA+ people; inclusive collective-bargaining language and benefits (healthcare, parental leave); anti-harassment and transgender rights; union organizing and worker power; intersectional economic-justice policies that affect LGBTQIA+ workers (wages, health access, immigration and voting rights).
Primarily supported by affiliated labor unions and union members, supplemented by donations, grants, and AFL-CIO support.
Affiliated with the AFL-CIO and a network of national and local unions and union caucuses; works closely with major unions such as SEIU, AFSCME, Teamsters, AFT and USW and with labor and LGBTQ advocacy partners.
