About the Organization

RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the largest U.S. anti-sexual-violence organization, founded in 1994 to support survivors through direct services, public education, research, and policy advocacy. It operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline and online chat services and works to improve prevention, response, and recovery for people affected by sexual violence.

Policy Goals

Advocates for survivor-centered criminal justice reforms, increased funding for victim services and rape kit testing, stronger campus sexual-assault policies and Title IX enforcement, expanded access to crisis hotlines and medical/mental health care for survivors, prevention programs, and legal protections for survivors' privacy and rights.

Funding

Funded through a mix of individual donations, foundation grants, corporate partnerships, and government grants and contracts.

Affiliates

Works with local rape crisis centers and sexual-assault service providers, federal and state victim-service agencies, partner advocacy organizations and foundations, and was founded by Scott Berkowitz.
