Responsible Statecraft is the digital magazine and public-facing journalistic project of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, a Washington, D.C.-based research organization. It publishes analysis, commentary, and reporting that promote a vision of U.S. foreign policy based on diplomacy, military restraint, and reduced overseas intervention.
Advocates restraint in U.S. foreign policy, greater reliance on diplomacy, limits on regime-change interventions, reduced overseas military commitments and arms sales, stronger congressional oversight of war powers, and alternatives to broad economic sanctions and militarized responses.
Primarily funded by philanthropic foundations and private donors, with early and recurring grants from major foundations (including philanthropic donors such as the Open Society Foundations and other public foundations) and individual contributions.
Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and its network of fellows and scholars, including co‑founders and senior figures such as Andrew Bacevich and Trita Parsi, board leadership and associated experts who contribute to Responsible Statecraft's commentary and research.
